In chapter 15, Mr. Rochester talks about his private life and how Adele had come along. Why does Mr. Rochester tell just Jane this and not anyone else? Does everyone else in the house know or is he just telling Jane because she is the governess?
I believe that Mr. Rochester talks to Jane about his private life because Jane will be the one spending the most time with Adele. Mr. Rochester does not have a lot of people to talk to either because most of the people that live in the house are his servants. He just needed someone to tell his feelings to about this. I think that he is trying to improve his relationship with Jane by seeing if she can keep a secret.
I think that Mr. Rochester has figured out that Jane is a great listener, and can keep secrets, and wanted someone he could confide in. He's started taking a liking to her, and I believe it's because she is so different from the other women he usually interacts with.
