Charlotte Bronte at 200 Podcast ~Kara Severson

While I listened to the podcast I couldn't help but notice a lot of the similarities between the girl in Esther Freud's story and Jane Eyre. There were so many things that had parallels, such as the fact that the therapist was already married, just as Mr. Rochester.

This also made in more interesting to listen to, knowing all that was going on. The second one was a lot more boring, there wasn't as many things that I noticed about it.

Transference made me think about Jane Eyre in modern times, like an alternate universe. It was awesome to hear about the thoughts of the girl, I thought that it was more in depth or easier to understand then Jane's thoughts. Maybe just because it was modern. It was more interesting so see the realization about how she loved her therapist and not her boyfriend. Just how Jane realized that she was still in love with Mr. Rochester.

  1. I agree that it was much easier to understand the thoughts of the girl in this story than Jane. We're used to more modern talking like what was done in the podcast. Not how we read in Jane Eyre. However, I think at the end of the story the girl realized that she loved both her boyfriend ad her therapist. She just decided not to act on her love for her therapist instead because she knew it wouldn't be right.
