Does Jane Eyre ever feel suicidal because shes so ugly? - Nate W

Throughout the story so far, many characters have called Jane ugly and plain. Now she is very jealous because Mr. Rochester is off on a trip with a very attractive woman and Jane begins to see her own flaws. Do you think through this all she has become depressed? Would she go as far as to kill herself?

  1. I don't think this will happen. I'm sure many people see themselves as plain but what does this really mean? I have never seen anyone as plain in my life. Everyone has their own features that stand out from others. I think Jane will come to love herself or Mr. Rochester will show her she is not as plain as she thinks she is. Lillie Bowman
