Possible spoiler alert on Grace Poole, sort of a conspicuous theory... Ericka Frey

Grace Poole a servant in the household, surprised Jane with a sudden laugh in the quite house. Her laugh "was a curious laugh; distinct, formal, mirthless. I believe this laugh reveals a bit about her character, that we will get to know in later chapters. She is between the ages thirty and forty and is the same age as the curious Mr. Rochester the head of the house. And because she was mentioned in the 5th WRC option, I'm inclined to believe she has something to do with the mysterious Celine Varens on our character sheet, and might possibly also (just a guess because I haven't read that far) be Celine Varens. Mr. Rochester has an odd way of speaking that slowly reveals hits and clues about the history of the household and I believe that he knows exactly who Grace is and some of her history. I also think that as Mr. Rochester speaks the Jane more often that more will be revealed about the household characters in the hall. Perhaps something happened between Grace and Mr. Rochester? Will Grace's character become more important as the story goes on? Any inferences you have about Grace?

  1. I think you're right that she's more important to this story. The author so far has painted her as a slightly mysterious character. She doesn't say much but, the author makes it seem like she fits into the story more than just as a simple maid.
