What is Mr. Rochester's job and how is he associated with the elite? CJ Jurgens

Mr. Rochester is an illusive figure in the book. Jane finds out some of his past by talking to him but he never mentions what he does for a living. He is also associated with some of the elite in the area. Is this because the house was passed down to him and all of the money with it? Or is it because of his job?

I think that Mr. Rochester is some sort of an accomplished business man and also gets money from the renters of his land. He is gone for long periods of time and also had enough money to pay for a fancy hotel for Adele's mom. I think his job is why he is part of the elite because he does business with them but also in that group because Thornfield Hall was handed down to him along with all of its land and money.

  1. Mr. Rochester is pretty much like a landlord that owns a large amount of spaces for people to stay. He does business with people in the higher class and has relationships with people. He is just a rich farmer's son that took over the family land.
