After Mr. Rochester fell off his horse, Jane helped him bring the horse back. He was relatively nice to Jane and asked her where she was from. After answering they has a mild discussion about who owned the Thornfield Hall she went on her way. Why was Mr. Rochester so disturbed by the fact that Jane worked for him?
I personally think that Mr. Rochester asked Jane the personal questions to see her attitude towards working at Thornfield. He probably didn't want Jane to figure out who he was so he could get the answers that he was looking for. I feel like after finding out her personality, he purposely is acting tenacious towards her to show that he is in charge.
