-Drew parallels between Jane and Charlotte Bronte that I did not see before
-Exposed Charlotte Bronte's views on political issues and religion
-Helps paint a picture of what the actual environment surrounding the story was like
Cons
-The British accents were absolutely horrible
-Sometimes the points they were bringing up were not very clear to me
-It was very long and drawn out and I was quite sleepy at the end
What acquired my interest
I found to be the most interesting thing about Jane Eyre was how Charlotte Bronte communicated to the audience through lines directed exactly to the reader.
This direct communication added a level of almost creepy reality and personality between the reader and the writer. In my opinion, the main reason the book is still relevant today is in the manner she addresses her audience. I have also not seen this style of writing before, so it is my assumption it is not very prominent. One of the reasons I believe there hasn't been another story with this level of communication is the fear of ruining Jane Eyre, or not sizing up to this extremely successful and lasting novel.
