Why does Mr. Rochester seem to dislike Jane so much when he arrives back to his home? -Kelly H.

As we can tell, throughout the story Mr. Rochester's attitude toward Jane seems to change, but when he first met her, he didn't seem to like her at all.  Why is this?

  1. I would say that Mr. Rochester has such a hard time accepting Jane because he has had a terrible loss in his life. He doesn't want to bring anybody new into his life that he will greatly care about, and then get his heart broken like he did when his brother passed away. His heart could get broken by Jane dying, or by her leaving him and both would be extremely tragic when he starts to care so much about her.
